Investigators imagine Mtula Payton was one of many alleged gang members who opened fire in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an condo complicated, the Sacramento Police Division said in an announcement Saturday night time.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Department labored with our detectives for weeks in an effort to locate Payton,” the statement mentioned.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, had been charged this month with homicide within the slayings, as well as weapons offenses.

Investigators offered no motive but said in court documents that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded an online video hours before the capturing, flashing guns and speaking trash from a location in rival gang territory. Payton, who police say is a member of a rival gang, was being held in a Nevada jail pending transport again to California.
