SACRAMENTO, Calif. >> A suspect on the run since a mass capturing left six folks useless during an alleged gang dispute in California’s capital metropolis final month has been arrested in Las Vegas, authorities said.

Investigators consider Mtula Payton was one of the alleged gang members who opened fire in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an condominium advanced, the Sacramento Police Department said in a statement Saturday night.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Division worked with our detectives for weeks in an effort to find Payton,” the assertion said.

It wasn’t identified Sunday if Payton has an attorney who could communicate on his behalf.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, have been charged this month with murder within the slayings, in addition to weapons offenses.

Investigators provided no motive but mentioned in court docket paperwork that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded a web based video hours before the capturing, flashing guns and speaking trash from a location in rival gang territory. In it, they state their plans to head to the downtown area with the intent of opening fire.

Three men alleged to be gang members and three women who had been innocent bystanders died within the shootout that occurred as patrons of bars and nightclubs emptied out onto downtown streets. A dozen more folks had been wounded.

The Martin brothers, who have been among the many wounded, remain jailed. Attorneys for the brothers have but to touch upon their charging.

Payton, who police say is a member of a rival gang, was being held in a Nevada jail pending transport back to California.
