Speaking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler mentioned, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead until I feel higher about the path of our country."

In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether the country's leadership is committed to representing its people's greatest pursuits and whether the USA is truly "the land of the free and the house of the brave."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her youngsters. They blocked parents attempting to arrange to cost in to cease the shooter, together with a father who learned his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians resolve that the lobbyist and gun industries are more vital than our children's freedom to go to highschool with no need bulletproof backpacks and lively shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he referred to as "the lack of supply of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I am not okay with the state of this nation. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that when you're dissatisfied along with your nation, you let it's recognized by means of protest. The home of the brave should encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion against gun violence in the US.

Kerr refused to speak about basketball ahead of Game 4 of the Warriors' sequence against the Dallas Mavericks, instead raising his voice as he railed in opposition to gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's taking pictures.

"Within the last 10 days, we have had aged Black people killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've youngsters murdered at college," Kerr advised reporters initially of the press convention.

"When are we going to do something? I'm drained. I am so uninterested in getting up here and providing condolences to the devastated households that are on the market ... I'm uninterested in the moments of silence. Enough."
