A California district legal professional declined to file expenses Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police stories and movies of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its review of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery in opposition to one other passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in an announcement.

"Our choice is that we'll not file any costs in opposition to Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the victim leading as much as the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, in addition to the requests of both the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed on this case," Wagstaffe stated.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson stated the individual was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what happened earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file costs by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement businesses "for their cautious, diligent, and professional work."
