A California district attorney declined to file costs Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police experiences and movies of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no prices be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Workplace concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against one other passenger on an airplane while waiting on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe stated in a press release.

"Our choice is that we'll not file any charges towards Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the sufferer leading as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, in addition to the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no expenses be filed on this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, appearing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the individual was harassing Tyson. The video didn't show what happened earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file expenses by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement agencies "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
