ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police stated Duff Elementary College was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a parent with a hid weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the parent in the leg.

The varsity had early launch and college students have been launched on the planned time of 12:10 p.m.

Based on police, the guardian, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by accident shot himself. His injury was not critical.

The college district said White was inside the constructing, close to the lobby space, and not in the hallway close to students when the gun went off.

Police and college officers stated there was no risk made and the mum or dad did not have "malicious intent."

No college students or workers have been injured. The parent was taken to an space hospital after being shot within the leg. 

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.

Within the two days since the Uvalde mass faculty taking pictures, there have been five cases in North Texas associated to weapons introduced to schools or threats made.

Arlington mother and father said their minds instantly considered the worst when they have been notified.

No father or mother ever desires there to be a motive for them to get a text message saying their kid's faculty is on lockdown.

However since this week's lethal capturing at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, they cannot help but assume the worst once they do.

"After I received the text message, I used to be like, ‘Oh my God, something goes to happen.’ I was shocked," guardian Karima Rasheed mentioned.

Whereas most occasions, lockdowns are only drills college students have to participate in, Rasheed's son, Rami, said that figuring out what occurred earlier this week made this lockdown totally different.

Rasheed mentioned Thursday was the commencement day for sixth grade students at Duff Elementary.

While driving her son to school within the morning, she had a chat with him about Uvalde and what to do if something ever happened at his faculty.

"If one thing occurred, you’ve received to run anyplace that’s safe and conceal," she informed her youngster.

Whereas some say the incident in Uvalde is too recent to talk politics, Mitchell stated something needs to be carried out now.
