Mike Tyson will not face prices in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district lawyer says

A California district lawyer declined to file costs Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police reviews and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no charges be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe stated in an announcement.

"Our decision is that we are going to not file any prices against Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the victim main up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no prices be filed in this case," Wagstaffe stated.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file charges by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement businesses "for their careful, diligent, and professional work."
