Israel won't launch a criminal investigation into the killing of the US-Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, which Palestinian officials and witnesses have blamed on Israeli soldiers.

In an announcement released on Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces claimed that as a result of Abu Aqleh was killed in an “active fight situation”, a direct criminal investigation wouldn't be launched, though an “operational inquiry” would continue.
